Ways to decorate for Christmas

Christmas in England

The Rutherfords first set their sight on The Beehive English cottage over twenty years ago, but sadly missed out on a chance to buy it due to closed bids. “We love the Costwolds, and this house is lie a little bit of the Cotswolds in Northumberland,” Jane explains.

As chance would have it, the English cottage came onto the market ten years later. This time they were lucky enough to buy the English cottage and move in just in time for the family to spend their first Christmas in the cottage.

Jane has dressed the English cottage with foliage and opted for an alpine theme from her treasure trove of Christmas decorations. The dining room is painted in Light Challin or by Little Greene.

Christmas in England is always a very special time of the year. Everyone has its own ways to decorate for Christmas. Candles and natural Christmas decorations set a relaxed ambience. This antique Knole sofa has been reupholstered in Hunting Tower tartan, by Moon. Their wire-haired fox terrier Dottie enjoys a fireside spot in the family room.

Jane remains faithful to their shop, with almost all her furniture and accessories bought from there.
